A quick funny

We were sitting in our living room yesterday and Natalie was babbling along as usual. We realized that she was saying the Lord's Prayer. I guess at school they must say a line and then the kids repeat, because she was saying "Thy Kingdom Come...thy kingdom come" repeating each line twice. And then she came out with this" "I will be done...I will be done...and be quiet!" No clue where that fits into the Lord's Prayer but Paul and I were in tears laughing at her!

What to blog about..

So many fun things are in the mix right now. Looks like we are definitely going to Myrtle Beach for a few days. Hoping to get to Texas before it gets to hot this summer since we haven't been in a year and a half and I am having major withdrawls! Possibly a Douglass family reunion and a Gilmour (my mom's family) reunion in Wisconsin. And all Natalie wants to do it swim and go to the beach. Think she has lost her interest in gymnastics now, which is fine because swim lessons start in 2 weeks. A little nervous since she will be in class without one of us for the first time and her instinct is to just go straight into the water!! Luckily they will put a float-belt thing on her in case she falls in. I just hope she pays attention and listens. She is such a little fish and loves the water so I really want her to get swimming down.
A few other surprises on down the line if they pan out. Will keep you posted!

How I spent my Spring Break

Well, the week started out great. My mom came into town for our birthdays and we were all set to go to Charlotte (sans Natalie) for a grown-up night out on Sunday night. Saturday night Natalie woke up with a fever of 101. Tylenol brought it down and she ended up sleeping with my mom. Sunday we decided to see how she was before we decided whether or not to go to Charlotte. She was acting totally fine and had a fever of 100.4 so we decided to go. That afternoon Paul and I went shopping, saw Unknown at the movies, and had a phenomenal meal of sushi and more at Upstream. Nat kept a low 100 fever and took a nap...yes, an actual nap. She slept fine that night and so did we (with no one waking us up at 6am). We headed to Trader Joe's to fill our freezer and then headed back. Meanwhile, Natalie took another nap that morning and when we got home she had a fever of 102.
So we headed to the pediatrician's office. She tested negative for the flu. She had some fluid in one ear but not enough to be considered anything so we left with the diagnosis of a virus and a prescription for some antibiotics if she was still running a fever two days later (just in case it was an ear infection). That night she woke up with a fever of 104. So I spent a good bit of the night in her room with her. Tuesday she was again ok but no appetite and had a fever on and off all day. Same thing that night..high fever and Paul stayed in her room. Same thing Wednesday except Nana slept with her. We did ask her if her ears hurt and she said no. Only complaint she ever had was that her tummy hurt, but then again, she wasn't eating ANYTHING. Thursday she woke up acting better and actually asked for food. She had barely eaten more than a piece of bread up to this point so we thought she was better. We took Nana to the airport since Nat's temp was only 99. She slept in the car on the way back. It is only a 45 minutes flight and this was her third nap in a week (we've had 2 other ones ALL YEAR). Took her temp again at home and it was 103. So more Tylenol and more resting. She went to bed with no fever and woke up once, but no fever.
FINALLY today, no fever to really speak of. Highest we've registered is 99.6. And she seems to be acting a little better. She says her tummy feels better but still not really eating. HOPING HOPING HOPING we are over this virus. Not exactly the Spring Break we planned...see, Natalie's spring break is in April. So Paul and I should have had all morning every day this week to catch up around the house and get ahead for school. Yeah...so not in the cards. Hopefully we can salvage this weekend and do something fun. We are SO glad Nana was here to help out. But we are all exhausted and a little stir crazy from all the time in the house!
