The Final Countdown

So we are 2 weeks out for closing on the house. After the catastrophy with the first mortgage company, we are holding our breath that things continue to go smoothly with company number 2 and can close on time. Mom and I will be going out for the closing. This will be the first time I've been away from Natalie for more than a few hours, let alone 3 days!!! Paul and Nat are staying home since it is a lot of traveling in a short period of time and that isn't easy with a 19 month old.

We are also 4 weeks out from moving outta here. The movers come on July 20. It will take 8 -12 days to get out stuff to the new house so we will hang out in Texas for a bit. We'd love to see as many people as we can so please let us know if you are around then and can get together. We will still have our same College Station cell phone numbers for a while, but we plan on changing them to something local after the move. Hard to believe I'm giving up the number I've had for 10 years!!

Well...back to packing....yuck!

Ouch!

So after a day and a half of fussiness, we went to see Dr. Delp. After 1.5 hrs of straight screaming, I found out that Natalie has a bad ear infection in her right ear and a not as bad one in her left. Poor kid. Since she's also decided she doesn't want to take medicine this week, I decided to let the doctor's office give her the first dose as a shot. It hurts worse than normal vaccinations but since she was already hysterical, I didn't think it could get much worse. We had to wait around the office for 20 minutes after the shots to make sure she didn't have a reaction. Luckily 2 nurses came in and gave the shots simultaneously so it was over faster. She got really sleepy after the shots and seems to be a bit better this morning. Still not willing to take her medicine so one of us has to hold her down while the other squirts it down her throat. Not a pleasant experience for any of us but she needs the medicine. Hopefully she will be back to 100% soon.

Exploring the neighborhood

Natalie LOVES to play outside. We don't get to do it much now that it is so hot in Tucson, but we try to get out at night if we can. Our neighbors across the alley have a daughter named Bella who is 3 and 1/2 years old. Natalie LOVES playing with her. Unfortunately, the night these pictures were taken she wasn't home...try explaining that to an 18 month old! She kept looking for her. The cat belongs to another neighbor and his name is Nebula!

Swimming in the tub

For those that are concerned, Natalie was supervised by BOTH parents to get these pictures taken. They were not coerced or forced. This is just what she does in the tub now.

So we didn't get any pictures of Natalie during her swimming lessons, but since she has decided to practice every night in the bathtub (while supervised of course) we did manage to get some pictures of her practicing. Since she is naked in the tub, we decided to "edit" the pictures and put them up on Natalie's photo album instead of on our public blog. I will send out an email invite to those on our normal baby update. If you want to see them (and don't get the email), send me a message and I'll send you an invite. Just don't want to post naked pictures of her on here!

Starting to Pack

So we have begun to pack up the house in anticipation of our move. Natalie decided to lend a hand...or not...

The Rocking Chair

Natalie's room has a rocking chair in it that belonged to my great-grandmother. My mom's dad was actually rocked in this chair! And we have spent a great many nights rocking Natalie in this chair in the middle of the night. Lately we have been rocking her in it while reading to her before nap and before bedtime. She's recently figured out how to climb into it herself. Here's proof plus a few pictures of her showing off her teeth.

And although we have no pictures, Natalie has really gotten into spinning around on the carpet. It's HILARIOUS!!! She spins and spins and then falls down. She tries to get up and stumbles around like she's had too much to drink. Never a dull moment with her around!
