Potty Training...Day 2

So Day 2 started off with a bang! Natalie woke up at 6 am..totally dry. First two times she let us know she had to go..but things went downhill a bit from there. She was still successful many times today but it was more from our urging her to use the potty than from her telling us she needed to go. And there are still certain things she ABSOLUTELY won't do. But we will keep trying until we get them down! Today Paul and Nat played LOTS of Nintendo. But we also did lots of stickers and made a mask out of a paper plate and tissue paper. We also finger painted for the first time and played in our tunnel. We brought out the Mega blocks and had fun building and destroying. Natalie also earned another special prize today..a necklace to match the ring form yesterday. Check out our pictures from today!

Making sure Daddy couldn't go to work today..

Unsure about finger painting..you mean I can make a mess?

We liked this activity...a LOT!!

Ok... I mean this as encouragement...

Sarah was pottytrained right before she turned 3. She had to be to start preschool. But the truth is she still refused to poop in the potty. Always did it in her panties. Made me crazy! She did it once or twice in the potty but that was it.

I lied to her teachers because she usually only pooped once a day and it was usually after school, so I figured she would be accident-free at school. And she was.

It wasn't until she was 3 1/2 that she got the pooping thing down. She had been "pottytrained" for 6 months before she finally clicked with #2 going in the potty.

It was maddening. I had bribed her. Didn't work. Yelled at her. Of course that didn't work. I was pregnant with Caroline and thinking, "I can't believe I'm about to have another kid and I can't even get one completely pottytrained. This is embarassing."

And then one day... nothing special happened... can't explain it... she just started going #2 in the potty. And she never had an accident again. I had spent months in frustration and crying and googling and reading and couldn't understand what her problem was. And then just randomly, she started going.

So if you can't get it all down pat right now, DON'T WORRY. For some strange reason, she will start to do it like you want her to... all on her own.. all of a sudden.
